The National Association of Cancer Center Development Officers (NACCDO) has reported that its member organizations have exceeded a combined $10 billion in philanthropy raised from 2018 through 2021, under the leadership of current NACCDO Chair, Michael Delzotti, CFRE, FAHP, the President and CEO of the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Foundation.
Delzotti, whose term as NACCDO Chair ends on June 30, 2022, has been a part of the association since 2015 and has served the organization in various roles. Under his leadership, not only has NACCDO reached a milestone effort in fundraising, but has also recruited the largest number of member organizations in NACCDO’s history.
“NACCDO’s strength is to collectivize individual institutional best practice and success and share it via professional education to enable all NCI cancer center development shops to advance their missions through effective, ethical fundraising. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have served our community in this leadership role”, says Michael Delzotti.
NACCDO is a cooperative venture of academically-based comprehensive, clinical, basic, and consortium cancer centers that are designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), or who have investigators that receive NCI grant funds. This association was created as a way to share information and resources among the development programs of cancer centers and to address collectively critical development issues of common concern.
As of July 1, 2022, Michael Hibler, MPA, of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, will assume the NACCDO Chairmanship, beginning his two-year term.
Of Michael Hibler, Delzotti says, “We now turn our gaze to the future when, our colleague Michael Hibler, becomes our new Chair. He has been an incredible Vice-Chair and is ready, willing, and quite able to lead NACCDO to a bigger and brighter future. I look forward to supporting him and our new board as we chart a course for NACCDO!”
