Tradition of Sending Messages to Markey Patients Carries on for the Holidays

The tradition of the UK Markey Cancer Foundation carried on this past holiday season by collecting kind messages from the community to display in the Markey Cancer Center.

The Markey Cancer Foundation collected hundreds of kind and uplifting messages for those receiving in-patient care at the Markey Cancer Center, which were printed onto banners on hung on the walls of the in-patient floors.

The messages are collected through direct mail campaigns and social media, and most often are returned with a gift in support of the Markey Cancer Foundation.

Patients and staff alike enjoy reading the words of encouragement that community peers send in, letting patients know they are not alone in their fight.

New messages are compiled seasonally, with new banners being created each time. While hundreds, and sometime thousands, of messages are submitted, the banners can only fit around 80 messages. To read some of the messages submitted recently, click here.
