A Grateful Family Member of UK Markey Cancer Foundation is Honored for Fundraising Efforts

The Bluegrass Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) had its 33rd Annual National Philanthropy Day on Friday, November 8th.  In attendance were local non-profit organizations and their community honorees.

The UK Markey Cancer Foundation was there with their honoree, Boone Logan, and his family.  Boone Logan is one of the Markey Cancer Foundation’s Grateful Families, as his late wife Eunice went through treatment for ovarian cancer at the Markey Cancer Center.  While the outcome was not what he would have hoped, Boone has spent the last three years trying to show gratitude for the care and hospitality his beloved wife received at Markey.

Through both fundraising efforts and ovarian cancer awareness, Boone strives to bring an end to this terrible disease.  In 2017, Boone created The Big Blue Cancer Blast, an annual clay shooting event which benefits the Markey Cancer Foundation. While a relatively new event, The Big Blue Cancer Blast is quickly growing in both participation and fundraising.   Taking place each summer, The Big Blue Cancer Blast has wonderful and dedicated sponsors, which attribute to the event’s success.

Boone Logan offers a kind heart with a determined and thoughtful spirit, which makes him a valued philanthropic partner to the Markey Cancer Foundation.
