Now in its 16th year, the Markey Golf Classic is one of the Commonwealth’s premier charity golf tournaments and has raised over $4 million dollars for cancer research in support of the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center. Held at the beautiful Lexington Country Club, this year’s tournament originally scheduled to take place on May 11th, has been rescheduled for Monday, August 24th.
As in years past, the golf tournament will feature a buffet lunch and cocktails on the patio prior to the 12:30 PM shotgun start; on-course games between holes, including a hole-in-one competition sponsored by Audi of Lexington with a chance to win a one-year lease on an Audi automobile; and prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, longest drive, etc. from L. V. Harkness, as well as luxury timepieces for the winning team of two.
All players also receive complimentary tickets to the Markey Golf Dinner, which will be held the on the evening of Saturday August 22nd at Mt. Brilliant Farm. In addition to a cocktail hour, the evening will also include several live auction items, a Calcutta auction of the golf teams and a lighthearted roast of the golfers.
